A FOUNDER’S PASSION: MEET SUZANNE

All things Able Made are made with heart. After losing her husband to sudden cardiac arrest while playing the game he loved, Suzanne created a youth soccer foundation in his honor and followed with Able Made to support it. Since launching in 2012, her vision raises and resets standards by weaving circularity, sustainability, quality, and authenticity into purposeful collections that are more gentle on the planet, generate local jobs, create healthier communities, and give back.

Each product is responsibly made to love, last, and make a difference—funding city-youth empowerment and health via Ucal McKenzie Breakaway Foundation.

FOUNDED WITH THE MISSION TO EMPOWER CITY YOUTH

Since launching in 2012 to support the Ucal Mckenzie Breakaway Foundation, we continue to expand our sustainable collections and designer collaborations. Part of this success is because as we’ve grown, our mission hasn’t changed. We’re always supporting responsible manufacturing while raising thousands of dollars for city-youth health and other powerful nonprofit initiatives aimed to build our communities.

UCAL MCKENZIE

Ucal was a first-generation immigrant from Jamaica, coming to the USA at the age of 16. His passions were helping others, soccer, family—and laughing. As a high school guidance counselor, soccer coach, and city-youth mentor, he touched so many in his 32 years. His influence lives on in our hearts and through our work.

GIVING BACK & INSPIRED DESIGN

Built on the power of design that does as good as it looks, we’re driven by passion and a mission to help communities thrive. We’re always supporting brighter tomorrows with proceeds empowering the Ucal Breakaway Foundation that started it all.

SUSTAINABILITY

With accessories crafted from fruit fiber, cruelty-free wool, certified organic cotton, and upcycled and deadstock materials, our products are sustainably sourced—so they’re as gentle on the planet as they are on you.

At Able Made, we believe in responsibility. That’s why many of our products are made in the USA, reducing our carbon footprint and supporting jobs right here at home. Our production partners are vetted according to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and Bluesign criteria, and prioritizing safe work conditions, fair wages, and environmental care.

COLLECTIVE IMPACT

‘Better together’ extends beyond our own sister foundation. From VH1 Save the Music Foundation and Pencils of Promise to cultural institutions and public parks like the High Line, Guggenheim Museum, and more, we’re dedicated to supporting like-minded impact-makers.
